The Battle of the Piave (Colour Litho)
2785209 The Battle of the Piave (Colour Litho) by Beltrame, Achille (1871-1945); Private Collection; (add.info.: The battle of the Piave. These days marks the fortieth anniversary of the historic battle that broke the last desperate offensive of the Austrians and created the conditions for the one that later led Italy to the triumph of Vittorio Veneto. It is dear to us to report, on this occasion, a page by the painter Achille Beltrame. It illustrates one of the brightest episodes of the titanic clash. The batteries of the 50th country artillery regiment, surrounded on the Moschin Hill, opposed the enemy on a single line, in which, alongside the cannons, artillers and infantrymen competed in skill.
