This is one of series of photographs documenting Harry Prices investigations into the mediumistic abilities of the brothers Rudi and Willi Schneider. His career was covered extensively by the journal of the American Society for Psychical Research, and he took part in a number of notable experiments conducted by paranormal researchers/debunkers, including Harry Price, Albert von Schrenck-Notzing and Eric J. Dingwall. Some of which declared him to be a fraud, and others of which were unable to find evidence of trickery. HPG/1/6/2 (vii)"

EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph captures a pivotal moment during an investigation into the mediumistic abilities of Rudi Schneider, an Austrian spiritualist and Physical Medium, in 1929. The image shows a reconstruction of one of the enigmatic "teleplasmic hands" or pseudopods, which were often witnessed during Schneider's seances. The hand appears to be emerging from a curtain, with Schneider, controlled by investigator Harry Price, visible in the background. Rudi Schneider, born on July 27, 1908, was the son of Josef Schneider and the brother of Willi Schneider. His career as a medium was extensively documented in the Journal of the American Society for Psychical Research, and he participated in numerous experiments conducted by paranormal researchers and debunkers, including Harry Price, Albert von Schrenck-Notzing, and Eric J. Dingwall. Schneider's mediumship was a subject of intense debate, with some investigators declaring him a fraud, while others were unable to find evidence of trickery. The photograph is part of a series documenting Harry Price's investigations into Schneider's abilities, which took place at Price's laboratory in London. The teleplasmic hands, or pseudopods, were a key aspect of Schneider's mediumship, and were said to materialize from the etheric substance that was believed to emanate from his body during a seance. The hands were reported to have various abilities, including writing, forming objects, and even performing simple tasks. This photograph provides a unique glimpse into the controversial world of spiritualism and mediumship in the early 20th century, and serves as a reminder of the ongoing debate surrounding the authenticity of such phenomena. The image is a valuable historical document, shedding light on the investigations into Rudi Schneider's mediumistic abilities and the role of Harry Price in documenting and analyzing them.
