Front cover of The Illustrated London News depicting the famous victory of the British polo team over the Americans at Meadowbrook in the International Polo Trophy - also known as the Westchester Cup - in June 1914. The victorious team comprised Captain H. H. Tomkinson, Captain Leslie Cheape, Captain F. W. Barrett and Captain Vivian Lockett. Captain Leslie St. Clair Cheape (1882-1916) was dubbed, Englands greatest polo player. He played for England in the Westchester Cup three times in 1911, 1913 and 1914. He was killed on 23 April 1916 while commanding a squadron of the Worcestershire Yeomanry in Egypt. Date: 1914
