This thrilling victory marked the pinnacle of English polo, with the team consisting of Captain H. H. Tomkinson, Captain Leslie St. Clair Cheape, Captain F. W. Barrett, and Captain Vivian Lockett. Leslie St. Clair Cheape, a legendary figure in British polo, was hailed as England's greatest polo player. The image on the ILN cover captures the excitement and intensity of the polo match, with riders in their vibrant uniforms and horseback, poised for the next chukka. The crowd, filled with anticipation, watches intently from the sidelines. The ponies and horses, powerful and agile, reflect the strength and determination of both teams. This iconic photograph stands as a testament to the passion and dedication of the players and the enduring appeal of polo as a popular and historic sport.
