Maskelyne typewriter, 19th century

Maskelyne typewriter. This typewriter was designed by the British stage magician John Nevil Maskelyne (1839-1917) and his son Nevil Maskelyne (1863-1924). The design used an inking pad for the keys, rather than an ink ribbon. The first model was produced from 1889 in London by the Maskelyne British Typewriter and Manufacturing Company Ltd.
