Immunofluoresence LM of keratinocyte skin cells

Keratinocytes. Immunofluorescent light micrograph of embryonic keratinocyte skin cells. The nuclei of these cells are blue. Green coloured phosphtyr- osine proteins are seen around the nuclei. These are the precursors of melanin, the pigment which colours the skin. Red stained vinculin is a protein found in dividing cells. These cells are known as primary keratinocytes, found in embryonic tissue, they will eventually produce the protein, keratin which is found in hair, nails and horny tissue. Immunofluorescence is a staining technique which uses antibodies to attach fluorescent dyes to specific cells and molecules. Magnification:x374 at 4.5x6cm size

Immunofluores Keratinocyte Melanin Skin Skin Cell Skin Cells Surface Tyrosine Light Micrograph

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the intricate world of keratinocyte skin cells under immunofluorescent light microscopy. The image reveals embryonic keratinocytes, with their nuclei appearing as a striking shade of blue. Surrounding these nuclei are vibrant green phosphotyrosine proteins, which serve as precursors to melanin - the pigment responsible for coloring our skin. Adding another layer of complexity to this visual masterpiece is the presence of red-stained vinculin, a protein commonly found in dividing cells. These primary keratinocytes, located in embryonic tissue, play a crucial role in producing keratin - a structural protein that forms hair, nails, and horny tissue. The technique employed to capture this mesmerizing snapshot is known as immunofluorescence staining. By utilizing specific antibodies attached to fluorescent dyes, scientists can selectively label certain cells and molecules for observation under specialized microscopes. With an impressive magnification level of x374 at 4.5x6cm size, this photograph allows us to appreciate the intricacies and beauty hidden within our own skin's anatomy. It serves as a reminder that even on a microscopic scale, there is an awe-inspiring world waiting to be explored right beneath our very surface.
