This 16th-century print, titled "Desiderius Erasmus, or the Iconoclast," showcases the renowned Dutch humanist, Desiderius Erasmus, in an intriguing and admirable light. Born in Rotterdam in 1466, Erasmus was a leading figure in the European intellectual world, known for his biting wit, critical scholarship, and advocacy for religious reform.
