The pipers, all proudly wearing Government Pattern kilts adorned with the Black Watch badge on their Glengarrys, inscribed with HLI, were an essential part of the Scottish regiment's rich military heritage. Georges Scott, the photographer, captured this moment in history during a pivotal time in the First World War.
