King Edward VII, 20th Century. Artist: Rotary Photo
King Edward VII (1841-1910), late 19th century. Edward VII was King of Great Britain between 1901 and 1910. Before his accession to the throne, Edward held the title of Prince of Wales, and has the distinction of having been heir apparent to the throne longer than anyone in English or British history. During the long widowhood of his mother, Queen Victoria, he was largely excluded from wielding any political power but came to represent the personification of the fashionable, leisured elite. Edwards reign saw the first official recognition of the office of the Prime Minister in 1905 and he was the first British monarch of the House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, which was renamed by his son, George V, as the House of Windsor

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the regal presence of King Edward VII, a prominent figure in British history during the late 19th century. The artist behind this remarkable portrait is Rotary Photo, known for their exceptional craftsmanship in capturing significant moments and personalities. King Edward VII, also known as Prince of Wales before his ascension to the throne, reigned over Great Britain from 1901 until his passing in 1910. His reign marked a turning point for the monarchy as he oversaw the official recognition of the Prime Minister's office in 1905. Despite being excluded from wielding political power during Queen Victoria's widowhood, Edward became an icon representing elegance and leisure among the fashionable elite.
