Prince Nicholas of Romania

Prince Nicholas of Romania (1903-1978), in about 1928. Nicholas was Queen Marie of Romanias second son and the grandson of Prince Alfred of Edinburgh. He attended Eton and served in the British Navy. When his father, King Ferdinand of Romania died, he became regent for his nephew Michael. However, Nicholas had no interest in politics and in 1930 willingly involved himself in a plan to bring his brother, Carol back to the country - as regent, allegedly. Instead, with public backing, Carol managed to establish himself as King Carol II, deposing his son
