Sidney, the eldest daughter of Thomas Gibson Bowles, was a prominent figure in Edwardian society, known for her exceptional beauty and grace. Her father was the founder of The Lady and English Vanity Fair magazines, as well as a Member of Parliament. Cowes Week, an annual sailing regatta held in the English town of Cowes on the Isle of Wight, was a highly anticipated social event in the summer season.
