Ballets Russes in Seville, Spain, 1916. The Ballets Russes was a famous itinerant ballet company founded by Serge Diaghilev (1872-1929) in Paris in 1909. Many of the companys dancers came from the Imperial Ballet in St Petersburg. Diaghilev is in the centre of the group. Leonide Massine (1896-1979), Lydia Lopokova (1892-1981, Lubov Tchernicheva (1890-1976) and Sergei Grigoriev (1880-1968) are also present. From a private collection
