Suffragette Jack-in-the-Box Votes for Women
A suffragette Jack-in-the-Box with a bisque headed figure of a snarling woman. She has grey wiry hair which extends either side of a Tyrolean style hat with feather. This type of hat was often part of the cartoon image of suffrage supporters and early advocates of women's rights, such as Lydia Becker. The figure is contained in a wooden box with tartan paper cover, and has Votes for Women printed boldly on the front. No makers name, probably German in origin. Size- height 10.5cm, width 10cm. Date: circa 1910
