This Armed Services housing estate of 1000 12M Jespersen flats and houses was built by the South London Region of Laings construction company for Royal Navy families. An article and photographs about the event were published in January 1967 in Laings monthly newsletter Team Spirit. The Commander-in-Chief of Portsmouth, Admiral Sir Frank Hopkins, is seen with two Royal Navy V.Cs. J J Magennis (left) and T W Gould (right) who had streets on the estate named after them
