This print captures the dramatic scene of demolition on Holly Street Estate in Dalston, Hackney. The image showcases a cloud of dust enveloping the tower blocks, caused by the demolition of Rowan Court at the heart of the group. During this period, Laing Homes Special Projects collaborated with Hackney Council and a consortium of housing associations to revitalize the estate originally constructed in the 1970s. The image not only portrays an architectural transformation but also hints at a community's anticipation for change. As we gaze upon this snapshot from history, it becomes evident that beyond just bricks and mortar being demolished, there is an air of excitement lingering amidst police officers overseeing safety measures and curious spectators observing from afar.
