Started by Cardinal Wolsey in 1514, the Palace passed to King Heny VIII in 1529 when Wolsey fell from favour. It was extensively altered by Henry, and again during the reign of William and Mary by Sir Christopher Wren. The last monarch to use the Palace was George II.
