Ancient Palace of the Savoy, 1844. View of Savoy Palace on the River Thames in London. The founder of the Savoy was Peter de Savoy. This Peter, coming over to England on a visit to his niece, was created Earl of Savoy and Richmond...The date of 1245 is ascribed to the original erection'. The Collcutt Cattle Fountain is a fine example of Victorian metalwork and embossed golf leaf commemorative text.
In 1891 the Cattle Fountain Monument was commissioned to commemorate the work of the local branch of the RSPCA. It's purpose a decorative fountain and drinking trough for cattle & horses that had toiled to the top of Richmond Hill.
The monument included a drinking trough for dogs, at ground level
