Homo heidelbergensis

Homo heidelbergensis. Artwork of a male H. heidelbergensis individual, based on remains found in the Atapuerca caves, Spain, in the 1990s. This reconstruction is based on the skeletal remains found in the Sima de los Huesos pit. The features include Cranium 4 (Agamemnon) and Pelvis 1 (Elvis). Homo heidelbergensis is an extinct hominid that formed a relatively recent part of the human evolutionary tree. The remains from the Sima pit date to around 400, 000 years ago
