Born on January 15, 1803, Stephenson is best known for his pioneering work on bridges, most notably the iconic Menai Railway Bridge. Completed in 1850, the Menai Suspension Bridge is a marvel of engineering, spanning the Menai Strait in Wales and connecting the island of Anglesey to the mainland. The bridge's innovative design, which utilized wrought iron chains and suspension cables, revolutionized bridge construction and set a new standard for engineering projects.
