London, England - Victoria Memorial - Statue of Queen Victoria, wrapped figures a top- covers being removed, crowds waiting. Part of Box 23 Boswell Collection. A Day trip to London.The Memorial was dedicated in 1911 by George V and his first cousin, Wilhelm II of Germany, the two senior grandsons of Victoria. The sculptor was Sir Thomas Brock. It was completed with the installation of the final bronze statues in 1924. They were cast at Burtons Foundry, Thames Ditton. The surround was constructed by the architect Sir Aston Webb, from 2, 300 tons of white marble. It is a Grade I listed building. Date: circa 1890s

Dedicated in 1911, the Memorial was a tribute to Queen Victoria, who reigned from 1837 to 1901. The statue was unveiled by her grandsons, King George V of the United Kingdom and Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany, during an emotional ceremony. The sculpture was the work of Sir Thomas Brock, with the surround designed by Sir Aston Webb.
