This cabinet photo captures Lionel de Latour Wells (1857-1931), the distinguished Chief Officer of the Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB) from 1896 to 1903. The image, taken by H. & R. Stiles on Kensington High Street in London during the Victorian-Edwardian era, showcases Wells in his full uniform, complete with a brass helmet adorned with insignia, a red fireman's coat, and multiple medals on his chest. The Chief Officer's piercing gaze and stern expression convey a sense of authority and determination.
