In this evocative photograph, three esteemed figures of the classical music world are seen strolling along the Crag Path in Aldeburgh, Suffolk, England, in the early summer of 1961. From left to right, we have the renowned English composer Benjamin Britten, the innovative opera and theatre director Colin Graham, and the accomplished conductor Norman Del Mar. The trio's presence in Aldeburgh was significant, as they were all closely associated with the Aldeburgh Festival, an annual cultural event that Britten had founded in 1948 to showcase new music and performances. Del Mar had conducted the Festival's productions of Britten's groundbreaking opera "Noyes Fludde" at Orford Church during that year. The 1960s were a pivotal decade for all three men.
