EDITORS COMMENTS
This print titled ""They lived at the bottom of a well"" is an exquisite illustration created by Peter Newell for Lewis Carroll's timeless masterpiece, "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland". Published in 1901, this lithograph beautifully captures the whimsical essence of Carroll's fantastical tale. In this enchanting scene, we are transported into Alice's extraordinary journey as she tumbles down a rabbit hole and enters a mesmerizing world filled with peculiar and anthropomorphic creatures. As our eyes wander across the intricate details of Newell's artwork, we find ourselves captivated by the vivid imagery that brings Carroll's imaginative narrative to life. The title itself hints at one of Alice's many encounters during her adventure – stumbling upon inhabitants residing at the bottom of a well. This moment perfectly encapsulates the nonsensical nature of Wonderland, where logic takes a backseat and imagination reigns supreme.
