This evocative photograph captures some of the officers of the British Antarctic Expedition on board the Terra Nova as it returned to New Zealand in February 1913. The discovery of the bodies of Captain Robert Falcon Scott and his companions, who had tragically perished during their attempt to reach the South Pole, had been made just a few weeks earlier.
