Ocellaris anemonefish
Ocellaris anemonefish (Amphiprion ocellaris) hidden in a magnificent sea anemone (Heteractic magnifica) on a coral reef. Anemonefish, also called clownfish, live in association with anemones. Both partners benefit in a mutualistic association. Slime on the fishs skin prevents the anemones stinging cells from damaging it. The fish sleeps, evades danger, eats, and lays its eggs between the poisonous tentacles. The anemonefish cleans the anemone and also ensures a supply of food detritus for the anemone to feed on. This fish can reach a length of 14 centimetres. Photographed in the Andaman Sea, Thailand

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the mesmerizing beauty of the underwater world. In this image, an Ocellaris anemonefish, also known as a clownfish, finds solace and protection within the vibrant tentacles of a magnificent sea anemone. The mutualistic association between these two species is truly remarkable. The orange-hued fish cleverly hides amidst the poisonous tentacles of its host anemone, utilizing a slimy layer on its skin to prevent any harm from stinging cells. This symbiotic relationship allows both partners to thrive in their unique roles. While the fish seeks shelter and safety from predators, it also contributes by cleaning the anemone's surface and providing food detritus for it to feed on. Photographed in the Andaman Sea off Thailand's coast, this image captures not only a moment frozen in time but also highlights nature's intricate interconnections beneath our oceans' surfaces. With a maximum length of 14 centimeters, this small yet resilient creature represents the vast diversity found within marine ecosystems. Immerse yourself in this snapshot of life undersea – where biology meets artistry – as you witness firsthand how nature weaves together various species into harmonious relationships that sustain life itself. Let your imagination dive deep into this enchanting scene filled with hidden wonders waiting to be discovered.
