On 12 April 1961, he completed a single orbit around the Earth in a trip lasting 108 minutes. Valentina Treshkova (born 1937, here referred to as V. Nikolajewa-Tereshkova) was the first woman in space. From 16 June 1963, she spent almost three days in orbit, circling the Earth 48 times.
