EDITORS COMMENTS
This print takes us back in time to the bustling streets of Truro, Cornwall, around 1900. The view down Lemon Street from above Carclew Street offers a glimpse into the daily life of this vibrant Victorian town. Clyma, whose name is etched in history as part of Truro's rich heritage. As our eyes wander through this snapshot frozen in time, we notice several figures going about their day along Lemon Street. Each person tells a story; their attire reflecting fashion trends and social norms prevalent during that period. Intriguingly, our gaze extends beyond the lively street scene towards City Hall's clock tower standing tall in the distance—a symbol of civic pride for Truro residents then as it continues to be today. The photographer behind this remarkable piece is Arthur William Jordan—an artist who masterfully captured Cornish landscapes and cityscapes throughout his career. This evocative print from Royal Cornwall Museum invites us to step into history and immerse ourselves in a bygone era—Cornwall's past brought vividly back to life before our
