Its presence on the corner with Charles Street adds character to this historic scene. At that time, it was under the management of F. Clyma, whose name is etched in history as part of Truro's rich heritage. As our eyes wander through this snapshot frozen in time, we notice several figures going about their day along Lemon Street. Each person tells a story; their attire reflecting fashion trends and social norms prevalent during that period. Intriguingly, our gaze extends beyond the lively street scene towards City Hall's clock tower standing tall in the distance—a symbol of civic pride for Truro residents then as it continues to be today. The photographer behind this remarkable piece is Arthur William Jordan—an artist who masterfully captured Cornish landscapes and cityscapes throughout his career.
