EDITORS COMMENTS
"This charming vintage photograph captures the image of a young boy, identified as Little Tommy Tucker from the Little Folk Misfitz series, circa 1910. The Little Folk Misfitz was a popular set of character cards or parts, which were used in various nursery games during the 1910s. The boy in the photograph wears a ginger-colored ruff around his neck, a green shirt, white shorts, and black shoes and socks. His curly, unruly ginger hair adds to his mischievous and endearing appearance. The character of Little Tommy Tucker is believed to have originated from a popular nursery rhyme of the same name, which dates back to the 18th century. The rhyme tells the story of a boy who goes a-fishing and catches a herring, a salmon, and a flounder, but keeps only the roe of the herring for himself, much to the dismay of his father. This photograph offers a glimpse into the past, providing a window into the world of nursery games and rhymes that were once an integral part of childhood in the early 20th century. The image of Little Tommy Tucker, with his roguish grin and carefree demeanor, continues to captivate and delight viewers, reminding us of the simple joys of childhood and the enduring appeal of nursery rhymes."
