The castle, also known as Chastel Blanc due to its white limestone exterior, has weathered the test of time, withstanding the relentless march of centuries. Earthquakes have left their mark on the structure, necessitating repairs and rebuilding efforts. The last known restoration took place in 1202, leaving the fortress with an intriguing blend of architectural styles and historical layers.
