According to annual custom, the Lord Mayor elect was...sworn into his office of chief magistrate of the City of London, at Guildhall. Sir William Magnay, Bart. the retiring Lord Mayor, being a member of the Stationers Company, that body took a conspicuous part in the ceremonial, as did also the Fishmongers Company, of which the Lord Mayor elect is a member.
