This vibrant lithograph captures a dramatic moment in the lives of four Romanian students who embarked on a perilous journey by boat from Constanza, along the shores of the Black Sea. The image depicts their harrowing encounter with a violent storm that left them at the mercy of treacherous waves for ten long days. Hungry and exhausted, they desperately pleaded for help from passing steamers but to no avail. After fifteen more grueling days battling against the relentless Marosi, these shipwrecked survivors were finally washed ashore.
