To his right is Admiral Sir Rosslyn Wemyss, the First Sea Lord of the British Admiralty, and General Weygand, the French Army's Chief of Staff. Vice-Admiral Hope, Captain Marriott, General Desticker, Captain de Mierry, Kommandant Riedinger, and an interpreting officer, Laperche, are also present. The signing took place in this carriage, which was provided by the Germans, marking the formal surrender of the German military forces.
