This evocative photograph captures The Sappers Bay in the British colonial port city of Aden, now part of modern-day Yemen, during the 1930s. The Sappers Bay is named after the Royal Engineers, also known as the Sappers, who were responsible for constructing and maintaining military infrastructure in the colonial territories.
