This stunning handcoloured copperplate engraving depicts the Linear-leaved Acacia, or Acacia linearis, a beautiful and intricately detailed plant native to Madagascar and parts of East Africa. The illustration was drawn by the renowned botanical artist John Curtis and expertly engraved by Weddell for the prestigious Curtis's Botanical Magazine, published in London in 1820. The Linear-leaved Acacia is characterized by its slender, linear leaves, which are arranged in pairs along the stems. The small, yellow, pea-like flowers appear in clusters at the ends of the branches, adding a vibrant splash of color against the backdrop of the plant's silvery-gray bark. The illustration captures the delicate intricacies of the plant's veins, hairs, and other features, providing a detailed and accurate record of this fascinating species.
