Bound for Bombay, the ship was caught in a fierce storm that quickly escalated into a devastating fire.
Despite facing almost certain destruction, luck was on their side as another vessel, the Cambria, happened to pass near and came to their rescue. The crew of the Cambria managed to save nearly all of those aboard before the Kent ultimately blew up in a fiery explosion.
