Being promised a pet dog by some friends, who have come to live in town and are without a garden, I call, and am asked to leave the dog for a few days, as the family must have more time for the parting. 2. I call again, and capture the prize. 3. " Jim" objects to trains. 4. We arrive at our destination, and " Jim" is handed out by the guard. 5. As he does not follow well, I decide to carry him. 6. Friendly overtures at his new home are received with scorn. 7. Even a cutlet will not bring his tail into curl. 8. But during the evening, exhausted and melancholy, he becomes acclimatised. 9. And next day settles comfortably down and makes the best of it

This print from "The Adventures of the Dog Jim, 1889" takes us on a heartwarming journey with our furry protagonist. In the first scene, we see a young child eagerly awaiting their promised pet dog from friends who have recently moved to town. However, due to lack of space in their new home, they request that the dog be left for a few days. In the second frame, determination shines in the child's eyes as they successfully capture their prize - Jim the dog. The next scene reveals an interesting quirk about Jim; he objects to trains! As they reach their destination, Jim is carefully handed out by a guard. Realizing that Jim doesn't follow well, our young adventurer decides to carry him instead. Despite friendly overtures at his new home being met with scorn and even tempting cutlets failing to bring joy to his tail, things take a turn during the evening. Exhausted and melancholic after all these changes, Jim slowly becomes acclimatized and begins settling comfortably into his new surroundings. By the following day, he has fully embraced his new life and makes the best of it.
