Unfortunately for the Scottish team, they were defeated by a scoreline of 3-0. In this remarkable group shot, we see the players and officials lined up with pride and determination. Standing tall at the back are the linesman and Wilson Humphries from Motherwell FC, followed by John Paterson from Hibernian FC, Ian McColl, Fred Martin from Aberdeen FC, Alec Bowden representing Celtic FC, Davie Laing from Hearts FC, and Benjamin Mervyn Sandy Griffiths who officiated as referee for both the prestigious 1953 FA Cup Final and the momentous 1954 World Cup semi-final.
