This vintage print captures the English Football League XI team group before their clash against the Scottish Football League XI in 1932. The match took place at Maine Road, Manchester on November 9th, 1932. Standing tall at the back are some of England's finest footballers of that era. Frederick Roy Goodall from Huddersfield Town, Alec Talbot representing Aston Villa, Harry Hibbs donning Birmingham City colors, Ernie Blenkinsop proudly wearing Sheffield Wednesday's jersey and Alfred Strange also from Sheffield Wednesday complete this formidable defensive line. In the front row, we see a mix of skill and flair with Joe Hulme representing Arsenal, John William Smith from Portsmouth showcasing his talent alongside George Brown who represents Aston Villa. Austen "Aussie". Campbell proudly wears Huddersfield Town's badge while Tommy Johnson brings Everton into the spotlight. Eric Houghton completes this star-studded lineup as an Aston Villa player. Although this particular match ended in disappointment for the English Football League XI with a scoreline of 0-3 in favor of their Scottish counterparts, it is evident that these players were true legends of their time.
