The artwork was created by the renowned 18th-century English botanical artist Fred Polydore Nodder, based on an original outline drawing made by Sydney Parkinson during Captain James Cook's first voyage across the Pacific Ocean from 1768 to 1771. The Entelea arborescens is a flowering plant belonging to the Malvaceae family, which is part of the larger group of angiosperms, dicotyledons, or eudicots.
