This print captures a tragic incident that unfolded on a river in flood near Kolhapur, Western India. In the midst of chaos and panic, a massive snake broke off from a drifting branch and found its way onto a boat filled with unsuspecting passengers. The sight of the serpent sent waves of terror through everyone aboard, causing them to rush to one side of the small steamer in fear. Tragically, their collective weight caused the vessel to capsize, resulting in over a hundred lives lost.
