EDITORS COMMENTS
This print takes us back to the thrilling days of aviation in the 1930s. It captures Flying Officer Snaith, a skilled pilot, as he participates in the high-speed trials for the prestigious Schneider Cup races. The year is 1931, and this particular event holds great significance for Britain. In an era when air racing was at its peak, Britain stood out as the only country capable of providing an aircraft for this renowned competition. As fate would have it, their Supermarine S. 6B proved to be unmatched in speed and performance. This victory secured them the cup indefinitely. The photograph showcases Flying Officer Snaith expertly taxiing on water before taking off into flight mode. The plane's sleek design is evident even from a distance, with its propellers ready to propel it through the skies at incredible speeds.
