Flying Officer Snaith in Supermarine S.6B on 13 August 1931 in high-speed trials for the Schneider Cup races. Britain was the only country able to provide an aircraft and so won the cup in perpetuity when the other Supermarine S-6B, S1595 flown by Flight Lieutenant J N Boothman flew around the course at Calshot, in the Solent, at a speed of 340.08mph on 12 September 1931.
