EDITORS COMMENTS
"Once upon a Zep in the year nineteen fifteen, The Germans did build one, with pride and a spin, Not a house, but a Zeppelin grand, With Bill at the helm, and a crew so bland. The Zep that Bill built, with its rigid frame, And its envelope, taut with hydrogen's flame, Was a marvel of engineering, a sight to behold, A symbol of power, a tale to be told. But this Zep had a secret, a weapon, a gun, To rain down destruction, to make havoc and fun, Over the skies of Britain, it sailed with a grin, Ready to unleash its terror, a sinister grin. But the British were wary, they'd had enough, Of Zeppelin raids, of the fear and the rough, So they rallied their forces, their guns and their planes, To bring down the Zep, to end its reign. The battle ensued, a dance in the night, Between the Zep and the British, a fierce fight, The bullets and bombs, the flashes and the light, But the Zep, alas, met its watery end, With a splash and a sigh, it went down to descend. And so ends the tale of the Zep that Bill built, A poetic spoof, a rhyme, a humorous quilt, Of the Zeppelin's reign, and its final demise, In the great war of '15, a chapter in history's eyes." This illustration depicts the humorous tale of the Zep that Bill built, a Zeppelin used as a weapon during World War I by the Germans. With a mischievous grin, this cartoon captures the spirit of the rhyme, "The House that Jack Built," while adding a touch of humor to the historical event. The Zeppelin is shown proudly soaring through the sky, only to meet its end in a dramatic and amusing way. This illustration is a great addition to any collection of World War I history or poetry, and is sure to bring a smile to the face of any viewer.
