Othon I, also known as Otto of Bavaria, was the first king of modern Greece, reigning from 1832 to 1862. In October 1862, after a tumultuous reign marked by political instability and financial difficulties, Othon was forced to abdicate and leave Greece. In this historic photograph, Othon is seen arriving in Venice, Italy, in exile.
