This copperplate engraving, taken from Abraham Rees' Cyclopedia or Universal Dictionary of Arts, Sciences and Literature published in London in 1820, showcases an enchanting collection of harps. The Harp of Brian Boru, a mythical instrument believed to have magical powers, is said to have been played at the Battle of Clontarf in 1014, where Brian Boru, the High King of Ireland, defeated the Viking invaders.
