In this enchanting photograph, three young royals are captured in a moment of playful innocence around the turn of the 20th century. Pictured from left to right are Prince Edward of York, later King Edward VIII (b. 1894); Princess Victoria of York, later Princess Mary, Princess Royal and Countess of Harewood (b. 1897); and Prince Albert, Duke of York, later King George VI (b. 1895). The image, taken around 1900, offers a rare glimpse into the early lives of these future monarchs. Edward, the eldest son of King George V and Queen Mary, is seen with a mischievous grin on his face, his eyes sparkling with amusement. Next to him, Princess Mary, the elder daughter, gazes directly at the camera with a serious expression, her hands folded demurely in her lap.
