As Britain's first powered military aircraft, this semi-rigid airship made its maiden voyage on September 10, 1907, piloted by Capper, Cody, and Lieutenant Waterlow. During this groundbreaking flight, they embarked on a tour of the city, taking in notable landmarks such as Whitehall and Buckingham Palace. After circling St. Paul's Cathedral, they attempted to return to Farnborough but were met with strong headwinds of 18 mph (29 km/h), forcing them to land at the Crystal Palace in Sydenham instead.
