The RMS Olympic was the first of the three sisters to be completed and was launched in 1911. She also completed service in the First World War and later returned to carry passengers in luxury. Of the three sisters, RMS Olympic was the only one to complete a full, serviceable life. She completed her last journey in 1935 and was later scrapped at Palmers Shipyard, Jarrow, Circa 1925

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print takes us back in time to the early 20th century, capturing the majestic RMS Olympic as it arrives at Southampton docks. As the sister ship to the ill-fated Titanic, this vessel holds a significant place in maritime history. Launched in 1911, the RMS Olympic was not only a symbol of luxury and opulence but also played an active role during World War I. Unlike her sisters, she managed to complete a full and serviceable life, serving both as a passenger liner and as a troopship during wartime. The image showcases the grandeur of this ocean liner with its sleek white exterior towering over the surrounding tugs. The sight is reminiscent of an era when transatlantic travel was synonymous with elegance and adventure. Sadly, all good things must come to an end. In 1935, after decades of faithful service, RMS Olympic embarked on her final journey before being dismantled at Palmers Shipyard in Jarrow around 1925. This photograph serves as a poignant reminder of an era long gone by – one that witnessed both triumphs and tragedies upon these mighty vessels. It allows us to reflect on their significance within maritime history while appreciating their timeless beauty captured forever through Memory Lane Prints' lens.
