The Union sought to create a more humane and nurturing environment for these children, who were often orphaned, abandoned, or impoverished. Located on Amos Lane, the Homes consisted of eight individual cottages, each accommodating 30 boys or girls. The site also featured essential facilities, such as an infirmary, schools, swimming pool, and workshops.
